Cough & UMF Manuka Honey.... Does it work??

My little precious having his cough again and this time really bad. It been 3 weeks and he still coughing. I want to opt for natural home remedy and I found this one on eHow.

Step 1 : Grandmom was right, honey is helpful in treating a cough. Recent studies reveal that honey, in addition to having antibacterial and antioxidant properties, is also a mucus thinning agent. If your child is age 1 or older, consider using honey as an alternative to cough syrup to treat your child's cough.

Step 2 : Manuka honey, a honey from New Zealand is gaining recognition for its healing properties. A bottle of Manuka honey that has the UMF logo is considered to be of superior quality. UMF stands for 'unique manuka factor', and the UMF logo is only given to Manuka honey products that contain potent antibacterial properties. Consider buying a bottle of UMF Manuka honey, and use a teaspoon of it to treat your child's cough.

Step 3 : If your kids don't like the taste of Manuka honey, a warm mixture of lemon juice, water, and Manuka honey works just as well. Another alternative is use an Ayurvedic remedy of holy basil tea sweetened with honey. This remedy works like a charm to soothe your child's cough.
