A little review about our family, my hubby & I both are not mandarin educated. Since the day 1 we met, our main communication language is English till now. We speak English with JC & JE.
I had view the following schools:-
- Sri KDU
- Located at Sri Damansara
- Primary school using Malaysia National Syallbus.
- Sri KL
- Located at Subang
- Starting International School 2 years back
- Using British Curriculum
- Following Malaysia School Holiday and Calendar Year
- Age 7 study Year 1 (suppose to be Age 5)
- Sri Nobel
- Located at Petaling Jaya
- Starting International School 2 years back
- Google for review, seen bad comments on this Sri Nobel International School but they gave very good comment when it was a private school.
- Beaconhouse (or known as Sri Inai)
- Located at Petaling Jaya
- Fairview International School
- Located at Wangsa Maju/Subang USJ 4
- Using IB Framework (should be the best framework)
- Google for review, seen bad comments.
- Another bad review
- Sri Sempurna International School
- Located in Cheras
- Google for review, seen 2 mothers complaint about the school.
- Tanarata International School
- Located in Putrajaya
- Application sent but no reply from them. I guess we are not in the short-listed list.
Really in need of opinion, do you all have any recommendation?

Hi. I'm facing the same dilemma as you. My son just turned 6 and I have yet to decide on a school for him. He sat for an assessment and has a place in Tenby International School in Setia Ecopark for Year 2 commencing September 2013. However, I tested the traffic a number of times at 7am, and it took me over 45 minutes to get to school and an hour to get home! And I have yet to factor in travelling time in the afternoon. Having realised this, I have started to look for alternative schools nearer our home. My advice would be to keep travelling to a minimum - the school day in an international or private school is already lengthy, and travelling long distances would just tire the kids (and yourself!) out - especially when it's going to be along term arrangement. I am now exploring sending him to Sri KDU (local) or APIS - nearer my home and within my budget (<RM20k per annum). Does anyone have any feedback that they can share? Good luck with your school hunt!

Thank you for stopping by. APIS's tuition fees are within your budget range. Should go and enquiry and view the school.
By September, if no answer from the international I applied. I will send him to homeschool centre.
Hi, I had previously checked APIS and Sri KDU and personally, I would choose Sri KDU although APIS is closer to home.

Hey, i came across your blog while searching for my school to see how they're doing. I went to Sri Sempurna primary & secondary school years ago, 11 years at that place.
For me, it was a good school. I wasn't performing well all throughout primary, yet the teachers believed in me and I remain thankful for that till this day. Believing in a child is very important for development towards his/her full potential. The whole 11 years being in that school ended with me getting 10As for SPM, and i've ultimately learnt to believe in others. I'm not sure how others would interpret their experience in this school, or how Sri Sempurna is like at the moment, but for me it was definitely a defining part of my life.
P.S. They've recently changed to the International syllabus, and I'm not too sure about how they are taking that on.

Any comments about Sri UCSI? I am actually planning of switching my daughter std 4 next year from Chinese school to private school. I dare not directly move her to international syllabus as i am worries she cant catch up. Probably let her start with national syllabus and subsequently move to international at secondary stage. I am stay in seri Petaling. Sri UCSI and Sri KL would be strategic location for me. But Sri KL is international syllabus. Appreciate your comments. thks

Hi Shirley Ling, thank you for stopping by. I did not view Sri UCSI, therefore I would not comment about it. Whether it is private or international school, both of them are classroom settings (meaning you listen, teacher talks, it is really depend on the child whether can pick up whatever the teacher said). My son learns better at his own pace; classroom setting for him only good in English and Maths subject. Others like mandarin / bahasa, he would take a year or more to connect what teacher have taught.
I heard his age 4 and 5 kindergarten's teacher saying how hopeless my son in mandarin / bahasa. HOPELESS is what both of the teachers said. I opted for second opinion where this learning at his own pace, he picked up very slow at first, about 6 months one level and another 6 months for 2 levels.
If you asked me, I prefer own pace method more than classroom setting.
Whether it is private using national or UK syabullus, English would be first language in all colleges.
Hi, anyone know what is the annual fee for Sri Sempurna primary school? And what is the school address please?
How about HELP International School in Subang Bestari? They teach the International Primary Curriculum there, and use the Singapore curriculum for Maths and Science. Mandarin is also compulsory. They place the children in the Mandarin classes according to their levels. The school building is also nice. As for the kids who have to attend extra English classes it's free. I think other international or private schools charge extra for the ESL classes.
Hi I am a parent of a Help International. The school is fairly new, tho teachers and facilities seem good I think managment is lacking. The principal does not aid in parents concerns rather gives a more heres how it is and you just got to deal with it attitude. I find its for the benefit of the school and not really with the students in mind. But hopefully it will improve with time..or not and it will just start losing its students.
My experience with HELP was so unpleasant as they are so unefficient that they never get back to your enquiry as promised, and the pre-school co-ordinator was rude. The principal is scared of the Admin staff while admin is so badly managed and frankly i think they just don't care! Location wise i don't think is safe as single exit, plus development in the neighbourhood is still in progress. With the school pooring service & couldn't care any less attitude, i don't think i want to hand my child to them nice building/ singapore syllabus or not! It's out of my list for sure!!

Hi Lee PY, Thank you for stopping by. Sri Sempurna never call, I guess the waiting list must be very long. As for Tanarata International School, I was told straight in my face to look for another school for my son during interview because my son cannot sit still. From that moment, I knew I am looking at the wrong school.

Hv u found a school yet for ur little one. I m currently frantic as well since my youngest failed his entrance exam to Sri kl and was refused a place there despite having 2 other siblings already studying there!!! Fairview got really bad comments and also the IB syllabus seems a bit hazey. UCSI is using the IPC , hence when I go back on waiting list to Sri kl, my little one would have fallen behind again. SAPURA is total waste of time wt the useless principle and their UITM teachers. Tenby also using IPC and heard bad reviews... ( though not as bad as fairview) I m stuck... Other british curriculum schools are too far so only left with either Sri Nobel or home schooling. Anyone here familiar wt any home schooling centres?

Does anyone have good review on Fairview USJ? Google...mostly bad. But a mummy I've known is pretty happy with it. In fact she send both of her boys to this school.
Hi, we visited both Fairview USJ & Wangsa Maju. We particularly like the one in Wangsa Maju because of its full facility including a big field and swimming pool. After reading all the bad review on the net, we decided not to. (At that point, from view the school and school opening, barely 2 weeks. Kind of rush. A part of me wanted to enrolled him and another part of me do not wish too - till I googled the review for Fairview.)
Tanarata rejected straight to our face during interview.
Sri Sempurna never called, we think maybe due to long waiting list.
After consider all the facts & feedback from his enrichment class teacher & his kindergarten teacher. My son learns better in his own pace rather in classroom setting method. We finally decided to place him in a homeschool center where self-pace is concerned.

This Nobel international school once claims to be an example of character education, but it is just a shell of fancy talk. I have moved my daughter out of this place because they don't seem to know what they are doing anymore.
Their entire leadership is new and would only address your concerns with a 'I will look into it'. The school leadership just makes sweeping statements that makes our Malaysian politicians seem amateurish. They demonstrate no real content of education. Go ahead, ask them something specific...they will pass you to another person and another to get an answer. Hilarious
I am speaking from experience as a parent. It is shocking how they put up a front of being a character-based school, when they can lack integrity in providing proper education.
